Hornets win home meet versus Gophers by slimmest of margins
The Rossville Hornets wrestling team had the eighth tie-breaking criteria go its way to beat the Clinton Prairie Gophers in a meet that ended with a 33-33 score Wednesday at Rossville.
“Credit Rossville,” Clinton Prairie head coach Joey Mitchell said. “They are a very good team and well-coached.
“I look forward to our conference tournament at Clinton Central in two weeks,” Mitchell added. “It’s going to be very interesting. This match will only motivate my guys. They are a tough, dedicated bunch of kids, and I couldn’t ask for a better bunch of kids to coach. I have no doubt that they will come back strong and motivated for conference.”
The Gophers are 13-9 overall and 5-2 versus Hoosier Heartland Conference opponents with both losses coming at the hands of Rossville.
Clinton Central competes in the Tri-Central Duals starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, and the Hornets compete in their final dual meet of the season at Carroll starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
