The Clinton County Softball Tournament will be held Saturday at Rossville.
The tournament was rained out last season, so the Clinton Prairie Gophers will try to defend their county title from the 2013 season. That season, the Gophers defeated the Clinton Central Bulldogs 6-4 in the championship game. The Frankfort Hot Dogs defeated the Rossville Hornets 9-2 in the consolation game.
The first contest of the day will be played at 9 a.m. as Clinton Prairie (5-6) faces Rossville (3-6). Frankfort (5-4) will face Clinton Central (7-3) in the next game.
After the opening two games, the two losing teams will face each other in the consolation game with the advancing teams playing in the championship game afterwards. All four games are played consecutively with a 30-minute break between each game.
The Hot Dogs enter the tournament with a 3-0 county record, beating Rossville twice and Clinton Central once. The Bulldogs are 2-2 in county while the Hornets are 1-2 and the Gophers are 0-2.
The Gophers and Hornets will preview their opening round matchup today as they face off in a Hoosier Heartland Conference game. The Hot Dogs and Bulldogs previously met during the Clinton Prairie Softball Classic, with the Hot Dogs winning 3-1.
