Brandon Tonsoni is the oldest son of Brian and Amy Tonsoni. His brother Brent is a sophomore at Rossville and also plays on the basketball team. Brandon fell in love with the game of basketball at an early age. A nerf hoop attached to the bathroom door and a Little Tykes basketball hoop in the kitchen were considered necessities at the Tonsoni household and countless hours were spent playing ball.
Brandon is happiest when in a gymnasium. Being the son of a former basketball coach, he basically grew up in the gym. Some of his fondest memories are of attending after school practices with his dad, riding the team bus, rebounding during pre-games, sitting on the bench during games, and cutting down nets after sectional and regional championships. The varsity players that he looked up to as a young boy have most certainly had a positive influence on him, and he continues to admire those men to this day.
Brandon has always loved sports participation. As a young boy he played both basketball and baseball. He enjoyed much success in baseball when he was younger and was fortunate to be a member of a state runner-up Little League team in Wabash and a state championship Town and Country team in Delphi. However, once he began high school, he decided to focus on his true love, basketball.
Brandon has enjoyed his years as a Rossville Hornet. He has been a 4 year starter for the varsity and has been part of a special group of athletes who have given fans some successful and entertaining seasons of Hornet hoops. He has served as team captain and has received All-Conference, All-County and All-Area recognition multiple times and hopes to end his career by bringing a sectional championship home to Rossville.
Brandon also takes his role as a student seriously. He works hard in the classroom and is the secretary of the National Honor Society. Brandon plans to pursue a career in the sports industry and will most likely attend his beloved Indiana University in the fall.
